Great Bathroom Sinks are the starting point for amazing Bathrooms
The bathroom is such a commonly used room that most people take them for granted. Most people just think of their bathroom when the need arises or when something needs to be repaired or cleaned; otherwise it is simply another room in the house that serves its purpose and nothing more. However, many people are starting to view their bathrooms with more respect and buying better fixtures to make them as fancy and attractive as any other room in the house. In fact, bathroom sinks are among the fixtures that have come a very long way indeed.
Bathroom sinks can come in so many different material and finishes that chances are you will certainly find something to suit your style, taste and budget. Some of the more modern finishes for sinks are a throwback to yesteryear with pedestal sinks being a big draw. These free-standing sinks are great in big bathrooms and ensuites as they have a graceful presence. However, they are not so practical in small bathrooms where limited storage makes space a premium. Under counter sinks are also quite popular and work especially well with granite, marble or corian countertops. And another hot new comer is the raised, bowl sink. These beautiful sinks sit on top of the vanity counter and look like a porcelain bowl. Although these exquisite confections were generally reserved for the more high-end homes, they have recently begun to drop in price. The top end materials such as Granite and Marble stone sinks look amazing, and make your sink the focal point of the room, and are available for around $400-500. You can get them in more affordable materials and in such wide variety or beautiful styles that, in some cases, you cannot even tell that they are true sinks!
A bathroom sink does not work alone unless it is a pedestal sink. Most other sinks depend upon the vanities in which they are placed and the counter tops that surround them. There are some very attractive materials available from solid wood cabinets to granite or marble counter tops. Most vanities can be bought in sets along with linen cupboards and pharmacies. Coordinating the look of your bathroom is very important and with the advent of the big box stores such as Home Depot shopping for the right bathroom accessories and coordinating them is much easier than ever before.
The sink that you place in your bathroom is probably one of the most crucial fixtures that your bathroom will see since it, along with the toilette bowl, will see the most use. Not only will your family use it on an everyday basis but every guest will see and (hopefully) use it after using the facilities. For this reason it is important to make sure that the sink that you buy for your bathroom stands out, is easy to maintain and matches your décor and sensibilities.
